A very challenging project and we are sure that we you'll go through this document, the creativity and talent of DotsLinker will impress you even more.
'Al-Nahal' (Arabic word means "The Honey Bee") is the name of a chapter (Supara) in the Islamic Holy Book called "Quran". This chapter was named according to its contents. It defined the life cycle and format of a honey bee and in order to make humans realize the existence of 'After Life' and work for it, God quotes an example of honey bee as a role model for humans to follow and collect good deeds while living on this earth for a temporary period.
In the nutshell, according to this chapter's teaching, a human being is living on this earth for a temporary period of time and he has some right and duties to perform. Collect good deeds on this earth because he is answerable to God. If good deeds are enough or justify the time spent on earth, he'll be rewarded. On the other hand, he will responsible for what he "earned".
- Designer of this logo had no idea what that chapter is about or the meaning of the term Al-Nahal.
- Facial illustrations and images are not appreciated in Islamic religion. So we had to extremely careful to keep its dignity.
- Explaining the life format of a honey bee, showing it in a logo illustration was itself a great challenge.
Now, after actually studying that chapter in holy book in detail and understanding the concept required extremely talented artist who, by heart could be absolutely unbiased and open to knowledge and understanding the chapter as a background concept to be able to come up with equally great design. One of our talented designers undertook this task and took his time to understand the concept.
Smart illustrations in figures 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 the cog (the affairs of the world), the flower( the world) and the honey bee (human being) are the basic constituents of the main cryptography on this logo design as shown in figure 1.5. The cog (fig 1.1) shows industrial design, a working symbol that it all about arriving and working. Figure 1.2 is illustration of a sunflower, the most visited by honey bee for nectar collection (good deeds). To demonstrate the relationship between the world and its affairs and passing age / time, The circular logo design shows a 'clock design' where half of which shows cog design and rest the sunflower petals. At this point, it also completes the symbolic illustration of a sunflower, see figure 1.4.
The honey bee has a white and a yellow wing, figure 1.3. If you see a bee flying in open environment, you'll see 2-3 colors in its wings, i.e., white, yellow and gray / black tone. Body of the bee is circular as a central hub to which all hands in a clock and joined. Wing with white color (Neutral) is placed at 12 o'clock, showing start of the clock / time / life. Then the yellow wing shows the moving hand, moving forward to complete the round / end of life cycle.
In the final cryptography of this logo design figure 1.6, honey bee is sitting on the sunflower working and doing what it was supposed to do. Balancing the logo design and building the overall dial of the clock. Time is of essence here because humans are not sent on this earth for a never ending time. Its countable, its temporary and it has an end.
Figure 1.5 was dedicated to show the type face illustrated for this logo, giving a very harmonized and unique look. A beautiful flow and unlike most conventional type faces used in logos.
DotsLinker create the punch line / slogan / tag line for this logo which amazed the client. It says "to BEE the faithful". Most of us do believe in after-life, that there is heaven and hell, that we will be judged one day by God, that we will be forgiven because at least we have faith, that we did not commit major sins, that the only mistake was to be less practical in collecting good deeds.
The message of this organization is not to convince you to accept one religion or quit another. They only say one thing, no matter how much faith you're carrying in heart, how honestly you believe in God or concepts of after-life. "Be practical and be good". So it is to tell the faithful to focus on practicability of the faith, to implement good intentions, to actually do good things, not just to say them.
Client was so impressed and happy with the creativity and hard work of DotsLinker that they literary had no words to explain their compliments.
"One of the most thoughtful works of art." (Logo Wonders).
